On our 2nd consecutive day diving, we decided to go to the north. Nice wind, good tide and very nice crew. The same old spearos buddies (myself, Fenias and Luis), and 2 skippers (Jeito and Joao). We arrived at the spot at 9:30 sharp as predicted, and commenced the warm-up. Fenias was the first to land a large spanish mackerel (he estimated around 25kg), but unfortunately the fish got the best of him and was lost. He came back in the water upset but full with expectation. On my first semi-deep dive (21m), I was checking the environment around without expecting to shoot anything. At the end of muy dive, I spot a large dark grey figure in between two large rocks. I went closer and my first thought went to a large snapper. When I got closer, I realized was a giant grouper... Slowly I aimed at his head, and shot! Unfortunately the grouper had saw me and my shot went straight to the center of the body. She fought hard, trying to cave herself as I struggled to swim back up. Luckily, I managed to avoid that, and pulled her up. Not happy with the shot, but happy with the final result.
