Jaga and I set out to land a doggie on pole spear and we did it. The fish arrived stealth as they always do. Keeping our prey in constant sight, i made multiple drops but was unable to get close enough for a solid shot. Patience was painful. My heart was pounding through my chest. Finally, with the beast slowly circling our flasher and chum, the doggie turned from the depths to check me out and i managed to land a perfect head shot to the top of his brain. The fish shook a few times and then bolted violently into the deep dragging the riffe buoy, my Headhunter Nomad Pole Spear, and my dreams of landing this beast with it. Within seconds the buoy vanished into the abyss. Eternity lasted a few minutes and then we slowly started to see the bright orange buoy rising from the deep. I pulled the line and felt the weight of the fish. The struggle continued without the fish taking line and I gained slowly until the fish was in range for a second shot. I called for another pole spear- Headhunter as well- and clipped my line to the buoy before securing a second shot with the pole spear on the fish and captured the fish of my dreams in the most challenging way possible. All this on a remote island in Fiji with a bad ass guide and crew and my parents in the boat to celebrate.
