We stayed at the island while we were shooting documentary film 'Mission100', which is the story about the years of journey in search of 100kg+ Doggie. On day 50, in the morning, we held "Yebisu-festival", which put pray for "Yebis-san", the fishing god in Japanese old myth, and we put our catch to the temple and made sashimi party with all the fishermen on the island. Then, we left the pier to the Doggie spot at 2pm. After half an hour, we got to the Doggie drop-off, which is moderately steep from 80m - 30m, then we jumped into the water. The water was bit murky and the evening sunshine made visibility worse. The spot was super fishy, hundreds of rainbow runners (and they all were nice size up to 30lb maybe?) and bait fish around, and of course sneaky sharks as always. After 10min of drifting with my flasher, we still didn't find any Doggies but I believe they will come because it was on! Suddenly a huge black fish came to check our flasher nervously from the abyss. His attitude was so calm, relaxed and was interested at some strange creatures which maybe he had never seen before. I dove and waited for him to lost his attention to us, then charged the sling and released it. The buoys split the surface like a jet. His power and speed was as much as the same size wahoo or less, and he gave up so fast in next couple of minutes. The fight itself was not so tough, but it was actually so beautiful experience. I didn't come here for a Sailfish, but the fish was exactly what I've dreamed to meet since my first dive ever. We went back to the port and fillet him into pieces. Finally all of it were shared with locals and fed them with great sashimis.
