I was a normal murky day with moderate to strong current at the CBBT. I'vs always claimed that I have seen 20lb+ Sheepshead out there but just have never gotten time to pull the trigger before they see me. The really big ones stay on high alert and always dart off. I just got lucky. I love eating these fish, diving for them and am thankful that they are here. We dont have snapper up this way and these are the closest thing to them. We ate this fish for Mother's Day and used 100% of the fish. Nothing was wasted. This fish weighed 19.25lbs fish when I first weighed it the evening I got in from diving. I was not able to get to a certified scale the next day as I had to work. So, 2 days later the weighed in at 17.4lbs on the Fishermans wharf certified scale. Advice to anyone going for a record. Weigh your fish immediately! And if you can afford it buy a certified scale!
