I was staying at South part of the country for spearfishing since this March, and my target is only one thing: giant Malabar grouper, with polespearing by shore dive. One month had already passed at that time, but haven't seen any of them yet. Me and my friend (he's a crazy high level spearo) went spearfishing together for "King of grouper". We spotted the area around pinnacle with very risky strong currents. We watched the sea from the top of the mountain by binoculars and found currents were getting smaller. We climbed down the rocky face for 30 min with gears, then entered to untouched spot on noon. We swim for couple hours but no big groupers. Around 2pm, I dove down into the school of bait fish and suddenly I found the rocky thing on the bottom has grouper like texture on its surface and two green beautiful eyes looked at me. I found that rock is huge fish that I've been looking for, then I charged the sling of polespear and I shot its head. Luckily, the spot was really shallow (only 12m!) and the shot holds its movement so I secured the fish with just one breath. My friend wanted to find his own fish, so we decided to take it at the bottom of the reef then started spearing again. After couple of hours, we came back to the spot and I took it again, swim back to the beach. On the way back it was soooo tough! Swimming towards the current with grabbing this giant thing, and moreover, its surface was slippery. That couple of hours of swim was the toughest experience in my life. When I came back to the beach on 6pm, the sun already set and it was getting darker by seconds, and there's no more energy in my fuel tank.
