After a few dives in a wreck nearby, we decided to move to a reef further out, for the lack of current due to the tide change made the pelagic fish quite scarce. Arriving to Baixo Sergio there was some activity at the surface, always a good sign, so we marked the spot, prepared the drift and off we went on the water…a couple of drifts and the boys put a few Spanish Mackerel and Yellowtail Barracuda on board…I decided to go check the bottom for this spot always keeps a surprise or two and a previous world record was caught here…15 meters down, in mid water, I made my first stop to check the scenery down below…I could see the large green shape 10 meters below me, so calmly I made my descent landing behind the only small rock that could offer some camouflage in that area…these fish are sometimes very wary and suspicious, specially the big ones…after what it seemed an eternity the parrot decides to come and check…I waited and waited a bit more until a perfect broadside shot was possible…the spear landed where it was aiming, the fish made one last run as I surfaced and finally was retrieved with no complications.
