As soon as we started diving on a ledge, I saw the permit school swimming fast up and down current . They cruised by three times before I found myself in a good position to shoot. I was laying on the bottom inside a sand gulley, trying to attract a dog snapper when the permits passed just over me. Perhaps startled by not having seeing me before, they slowed down and gave me the chance to spear one of them. As the pole was tethered to float line, I didn't have any problem in retrieving the fish immediately and dispatching it on account of sharks swimming nearby. The weigh-in at the boat showed the lowest weight of 10.1 lb. We videoed the weigh-in (see below).
