Paul Brown (Bing) and I cut out of work early to do some spearfishing on this sunny Friday afternoon. We headed out on the lake I live on, Orchard Lake, located in the City of Orchard Lake, Michigan. We used my pontoon boat as usual. We were working drop offs, generally along the deep side of weed beds. We encountered a few carp that day, including the extraordinary carp I shot that is the subject of this submittal. I shot this carp approximately 15 seconds into my dive as I stalked along the bottom, approximately 15' down. I was able to secure the fish and surface on the same dive. At the surface, I secured the fish to my stringer attached to my weight belt and swam back to my pontoon boat. At the boat, I hoisted the fish into the boat. All my diving is breathhold freediving including this dive. I shot it with my Hawaiian sling which I have mounted a reel too to prevent larger fish from swimming away. All aspects of the hunt and kill were unassisted, as may be corroborated by Paul Brown (the current world record holder for this species:))
