My dad, Donill Kenney, and I were diving off Grand Cay in about 15 feet of water when I saw the hogfish camouflaged near the bottom behind a sea fan staying in place. As my dad watched my back for sharks etc. I swam down and shot the fish from behind the fan. Once I hit the fish I swam to the surface holding the end of the spear. When I got to the surface I slid my hands to the front of the polespear and grabbed the fish in my arms to keep it from splashing on the surface. David drove over to me as soon as he saw the fish and I threw the fish and the polespear on the transom and then got in the boat. We took a few pictures and put the fish in the cooler on ice for the rest of the day. When we got back to Rosie's, David, Danny, my dad, and I weighed the fish on Rosie's scale inside the fish house. Since we did not know if this scale would be acceptable we kept the fish on ice and took it home with us to Florida the next day since we were flying home. Once I got home I put it in the freezer and my dad had his scale receritified to make sure it was accurate. To make sure it was unbiased we had Parker Hedrick, who is familiar with the scale, come over and weigh it with Eric Stone. All ice/frost was removed before weighing.
