I dropped down to 50 feet of water on a freedive landing right on top of the school bass. The fish scattered and I located myself between 2 large boulders. I loaded the Crist pulse spear. As the fish settled down several 40 pounders swam in front of me however, I was waiting for a trophy size bass. one 60 pounder came in but turned off before I could get the shot. Then a trophy size Bass came from my left side and crossed the pole spear at 2 feet and I released the shot. With a solid shot through the eyes of the fish I left the bottom releasing line from my belt reel but maintaining steady pressure on the fish. Once on the surface I slowly brought the fish up until I could reach the pole at which time I turned the fish over and grabbed him by the eyes and pithed him. Game over, I then swim back to the boat.
