Mike Chavez, Danny Clark, and I had decided we would target pargo and other reef species day three of the Daniel Van Huysteen memorial tournament with Sea Sniper Baja. We were dropped on several drifts through the day. I spotted a pargo shortly after the panguero was about to pick me up. I dove down assessed the situation and bounced a shot off the pargos face. I thought that I had lost him for good. After a search I relocated the rock and the pargo had returned. I landed a solid shot mid body and made the mistake of not grabbing ahold of the sliptip when I had the chance outside of the pargos mouth. I realized it would be a struggle and I called over to Dan and Mike. I walked them through what I needed from them which was simple. Don't touch anything and make sure I didn't die. I went into the cave and retrieved the polespear polling the pargo out of the cave. He swam out and swam back in breaking the polespear in half. I made a couple dives and was fortunate to retrieve the fish from the cave with the front end of the polespear. I really appreciate Dan and Mike spotting me.
